    Summarize Your Text

    Jan 21, 2009 1 comments

     automatic text summarizer

    This is again a helpful tool for students. Many of my friends have told me that are tired of reading long journals on internet.So presenting before you a great site that automatically summarize all of your text.To continue click read more.What more ?? it also has the option to customize the number of lines in which you want to summarize your text.It works on the simple principle that by default, words typed into the Internet Explorer address bar trigger an MSN search, just as if the words were entered into an MSN search box.
    The new Google toolbar feature bypasses that functionality.
    As the underlying web page is displayed, your search terms then appear in the Google Toolbar's search box.
    Prior to that, Real Names results appeared on AltaVista search result pages.
    Unlike Real Names, Google has no plans to sell particular keywords, relying instead on its own algorithmic technology to determine the best matches between search terms and specific URLs.
    Google's Browse By Name is currently available in English and 12 international languages including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Italian, Russian, and others.

    Add your Site's Feed to Other Blog

    Jan 20, 2009 0 comments

    To increase your feed readers you can also provide a button which when clicked will allow viewers to add your site feed to their blogs with a single click.Advantages of this Widget are-

    • This way viewers of their blogs will also see your site feed and can click on the post titles they find interesting.
    • This will increase traffic to your site and give it more exposure.
    Here are the steps to create "Get Posts From MySite on Your Blog" button. I am using my blog as an example site :

    1. Get Feed URL of your Site.

    The first step is to get the feed URL or the address of the site feed.
    In this case the feed URL for my site is :
    http://feedproxy.google.com/Go-TechPrateek

    2. Convert Feed URL to JavaScript.

    The second step is to convert the Feed URL to JavaScript code. For this use Feed2JS site. Enter the web address of the RSS Feed obtained in Step 1 above in the yellow URL box. Choose the various options and click the Preview button. If the feed URL is entered correctly you should see the posts listed from your site according to the options you chose.
    Click 'Generate Javascript' button. Code is generated. Copy that code. This is the code I got for my site is :

    <script language="JavaScript" src="http://itde.vccs.edu/rss2js/feed2js.php?src=http%3A%2F%2Ffeedproxy.google.com%2FGo-TechPrateek&chan=title&num=5&desc=0&date=y&targ=y" type="text/javascript"></script>

    <noscript>
    <a href="http://itde.vccs.edu/rss2js/feed2js.php?src=http%3A%2F%2Ffeedproxy.google.com%2FGo-TechPrateek&chan=title&num=5&desc=0&date=y&targ=y&html=y">View RSS feed</a>
    </noscript>

    3. Convert HTML code to Escape characters.

    Now we need to convert HTML characters like '>' and '<'. You can do this the hard way by converting each character or the easy way by using sites which provide this service free. Copy the code generated in Step 2 and paste it in the box provided at the HTML escape site.
    Click the Encode button. A fresh code text box will appear. Copy the code in it.

    4. Creating the Blogger Widget Installer.

    In this step we will create the Blogger Widget Installer. Clicking the button on this installer on your site will add your site posts to reader's blog.
    Open Notepad or any text editor on your PC. Copy and Paste in it the code below :

    <form action="http://beta.blogger.com/add-widget" method="POST">
    <input value="Posts From MYSITE.COM" name="widget.title" type="hidden"/>
    <textarea style="display:none;" name="widget.content">
    COPY AND PASTE THE CODE FROM STEP 3 HERE.
    </textarea>
    <input
    value="http://gohi-tech.blogspot.com/2009/01/add-your-sites-feed-to-other-blog.html" name="infoUrl" type="hidden"/>
    <input
    value="http://www.blogger.com/img/icon_logo32.gif" name="logoUrl" type="hidden"/>
    <input value="Get MySite Posts on Your Blog" name="go" type="submit"/>
    </form>
    <p>Click above button to get posts from this site on your blog</p>
    <li><a href="http://gohi-tech.blogspot.com/2009/01/add-your-sites-feed-to-other-blog.html">Get This Gadget on Your Site.</a></li>

    In above where you see "COPY AND PASTE THE CODE FROM STEP 3 HERE" paste the escape code obtained at the end of Step 3 there.
    Also replace "MySite" with actual name of your site.
    Save the text file as widget_installer_code.txt.

    5. Put Widget Installer in Your Site.

    In the last step we put the Widget Installer in your site. To do this simply copy all in the widget_installer_code.txt file created in Step 4 above and paste it in appropriate place in your site template and save. Here is what it looks like in the right column of my site Go Hi-Tech :

    If you Click on the button, you created on your site and the Add Page Element pop-up window will open if you are logged in at Blogger.com :

    Here is how it looks once installed on another blog :

    Save Energy using Blackle

    Jan 13, 2009 0 comments

    Do you know that Two Google Searches cost same amount of CO2 as Boiling Kettle for A Cup, about 7 grams of carbon in just two seconds.

    According to Urs Holzole, Senior Vice President, he stated:

    “Queries vary in degree of difficulty, but for the average query, the servers it touches each work on it for just a few thousandths of a second. Together with other work performed before your search even starts (such as building the search index) this amounts to 0.0003 kWh of energy per search, or 1 kJ.”
    For more info see here.
    You can Reduce this Energy consumption and can cause to reduce Green House Effect by using a custom Google Search Engine called Blackle, an Initiative by Heap Media

    I  notice a lot of blogs have links that did not open to a new tab or window.
    This meant that once a visitor to your blog clicks on one of the links, it will redirect them which will override your blog page.
    One of my friend today asked me about it, so I posted here How to do make a link to open in new Tab, that too using left click of mouse.

    The solution is quite simple.
    The following example shows the link that will overwrite the existing URL.
    <a href="http://www.domainname.com/go/salespage"><img src=http://www.domainname.com/gif/sample.jpg/>This is sample blog</a>

    The following example shows the link that will open in a new tab or window even though using mouse’s left click to click on the link. You just need to include in target="_blank"" in the position shown in the sample below.
    <a href="http://www.domainname.com/go/salespage" target="_blank&quot;"><img src=http://www.domainname.com/gif/sample.jpg/>This is sample blog</a>

    Unknown Windows XP Utilities

    Jan 7, 2009 0 comments

    Are you a Windows XP User ? How many utilities do you know that is built-in Windows XP ? Notepad, Wordpad, Character Map, Calculator, Microsoft Paint, these are the few utilities that I usually use.But out of blue,Windows Xp is a fully loaded package which has a lot of apparently hidden utilities which are seldom accessed by a basic or normal computer users ; and trust me,they still pack a lot of punch.
    To run any of these apps go to Start > Run and type the executable name (i.e. charmap) and press Enter.
    Click Read More to see full list

    Character Map (charmap.exe) - Very useful for finding unusual characters.
    Disk Cleanup (cleanmgr.exe) – The usual Disc cleanup.
    Clipboard Viewer (clipbrd.exe) - Views contents of Windows clipboard.
    Dr Watson (drwtsn32.exe) - Troubleshooting tool,runs when windows crashes.
    DirectX diagnosis (dxdiag.exe) - Diagnose & test DirectX, video & sound cards.
    Private character editor (eudcedit.exe) - Allows creation or modification of characters.
    IExpress Wizard (iexpress.exe) - Create self-extracting / self-installing package.
    Microsoft Synchronization Manager (mobsync.exe) - Appears to allow synchronization of files on the network for when working offline. Apparently undocumented.
    Windows Media Player 5.1(mplay32.exe) - Retro version of Media Player, very basic.
    ODBC Data Source Administrator (odbcad32.exe) – Database connection utility for support with external servers,create ODBC data sources,to administer remote databases or for supporting the ODBC database utility in Visual basic language.
    Object Packager (packager.exe) - To do with packaging objects for insertion in files, appears to have comprehensive help files.
    System Monitor (perfmon.exe) - Very useful, highly configurable tool, tells you everything you ever wanted to know about any aspect of PC performance, for budding uber-geeks only.
    Program Manager (progman.exe) - Legacy Windows 3.x desktop shell.
    Remote Access phone book (rasphone.exe) - Documentation is virtually non-existent.
    Registry Editor (regedt32.exe or regedit.exe) – For making custom changes or hacking the Windows Registry.
    Network shared folder wizard (shrpubw.exe) - Creates shared folders on network.
    File signature verification tool (sigverif.exe) - This tool will search the operating system and identify any unsigned device drivers installed on the system. It will also verify all signed device drivers.
    Volume Control (sndvol32.exe) - I've included this for those people that lose it from the System Notification area.
    System Configuration Editor (sysedit.exe) - Modify System.ini & Win.ini just like in Win98! .
    Syskey (syskey.exe) - Secures XP Account database, use with care, it's virtually undocumented but it appears to encrypt all passwords, I'm not sure of the full implications.
    Microsoft Telnet Client (telnet.exe) – Built in telnet client which can be used to connect to servers to sent emails or to hack :) This is disabled in in vista  but you can re-enable it by going to
    Control panel –> Programs and Features –> Click "Turn Windows features on or off" on left –> Scroll down and check "Telnet Client.
    Driver Verifier Manager (verifier.exe) - Seems to be a utility for monitoring the actions of drivers, might be useful for people having driver problems. Undocumented.
    Windows for Workgroups Chat (winchat.exe) - Appears to be an old NT utility to allow chat sessions over a LAN, help files available.
    System configuration (msconfig.exe) - Can use to control startup programs,make changes to startup of XP.
    Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) - Used to manage group policies, and permissions.Its an Administrator only tool.
    I hope it was informative.I would like to hear your comments on the above topic.

    Create Label Specific feeds for your Blog

    Jan 5, 2009 0 comments

    Yes, you can now offer you readers a Label specific Feeds. If you are using labels in your blog and has enabled site feeds, then you may offer your readers to pick and choose topics which they may want to subscribe to. The format for label feeds is this:

    http://blogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default/-/labelname
    Make sure you substitute in the correct blog address for blogname and the label you're interested in for labelname. Also, don't forget the hyphen ("-") in the URL.
    Note that a URL of this form will only work if the blog in question is using this specific label, and has also enabled site feeds. However, no special site feed settings are necessary. As long as the basic site feed for posts is enabled (with either short or full descriptions) then label feeds will also work.

    For example in case of Go Hi-Tech blog following are label specific Feeds-
    Orkut Related
    Blogging Tricks Related
    Freebies
    Downloading
    Mobile
    Check out the link of above Label Specific Feeds in your Status Bar

    It is very easy to Lock any folder without use of any software. To lock any folder just follow following Steps as written in this post

    • Copy the Following Code to Notepad

      cls
      @ECHO OFF
      title Folder Locker
      if EXIST "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" goto UNLOCK
      if NOT EXIST Locker goto MDLOCKER
      :CONFIRM
      echo Are you sure u want to Lock the folder(Y/N)
      set/p "cho=>"
      if %cho%==Y goto LOCK
      if %cho%==y goto LOCK
      if %cho%==n goto END
      if %cho%==N goto END
      echo Invalid choice.
      goto CONFIRM
      :LOCK
      ren Locker "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
      attrib +h +s "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
      echo Folder locked
      goto End
      :UNLOCK
      echo Enter password to Unlock folder
      set/p "pass=>"
      if NOT %pass%==type your password here goto FAIL
      attrib -h -s "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
      ren "Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}" Locker
      echo Folder Unlocked successfully
      goto End
      :FAIL
      echo Invalid password
      goto end
      :MDLOCKER
      md Locker
      echo Locker created successfully
      goto End
      :End
    • Now, save the above file in Note Pad as "Locker.bat" in your computer
